Wellfleet-Wicked Oyster
Located on Main Street next to the inn at Duck Creek, this must be one of our favorite restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Open almost year round to boot, so when we say the food is phenomenal, it is way beyond expected cuisine. Wellfleet-rustic but charming to say the least. AC is difficult to find (they always tout that ocean breeze even when it's 99% humidity and your sweltering) but somehow the Wellfleetians have embraced the Wicked Oyster AC and all. The Chef is South African and has made a menu that is both simple and sophisticated. From the Harry's Open Face Burger, which is so delicious with the mozzarella cheese, sauteed onions, and bun along with this amazing Worcestershire mayo that it just melts in your mouth to the more complex dishes which include a warm gazpacho served in a tomato with lobster. The delicately battered and fried oysters are a treat along with the filet which is one of the best I've ever had in my life. Two thumbs way up for the Wicked Oyster. If you want to dine at a table, get your reservations early even in November for a Saturday night or you will be disappointed as this place is a hot spot. If you can't get a table go to the bar for great conversation and try the latest bellini, tell Sue & Justin the Penny House sent you. Cheers...
